JUNIOR SOCCER STARS (rising K-3rd grades - Coach Chrissy Verchick) – Let’s play soccer and enjoy a week of fun and fancy footwork! Dribble, shoot, trap, and pass the week away at our Junior Soccer Stars Camp. If you already know how to play soccer, then come improve your skills. If you’ve never played but want to learn, this camp will be perfect for you. Either way, we will turn you into a SPX Soccer Star! Come play the game the whole world loves. You’ll even have Page High School Varsity Soccer Players working with you each day add to the experience!
HIPPIE CHICKS (rising K-5th grades – Mrs. Denise Jones) – Peace, Chicks! Smiley faces, peace signs, and tie-dye will be our theme at this happening camp. You’ll dig our retro jewelry and flower power headbands, and our fringed vests and jean bags will be out of sight! We’ll groove to the music of the sixties. Don’t be square, Chicks. This will definitely be a far-out camp!
CHEERLEADING (rising K-9th grades – Coach Laura Collins & Coach Elizabeth Channel) – “We’ve got spirit; yes we do! We’ve got spirit; how ‘bout you?” SPX Camps is excited to offer cheerleading skills to campers of all ages and skill levels! Coaches Collins and Channel will split all campers into two groups to work on cheers, dances, jumps, and advanced safe stunts. During this fun-filled week, you will make accessories that every cheerleader needs such as hair bows, megaphones, and pom poms. Whether you’re a beginner or an old pro, come out for a week of fun as we improve our moves! Make sure your parents mark their calendars for our Cheerleading Show on Friday! You will receive a cheer camp shirt, so be sure to mark your t-shirt size on the registration form.
MAD SCIENTISTS (rising 3rd-9th grades – Mrs. Terry Drosback) - Calling all scientists to a week of wild and wacky experiments! Each day we will uncover some of the magical secrets of science. Can you make a snow flake? How do you shoot cork rockets and make volcanoes active? Come learn how to make disappearing ink and even split some colors! Do you know the answer to questions such as, “does water have skin,” or “which objects will sink or float?” During this camp, you’ll discover how sound is made and investigate magnetic powers. You’ll even create bubble magic and some “Blue Brew”- what do you do with that? Be prepared to get a little messy after we make slime and even explode a few things! Mrs. Drosback’s daughter, Meredith Drosback, (who has a PhD in Astrophysics and Interplanetary Science) will drop by to help you launch your very own comets! How cool is that? Join this camp for hands-on science fun!
CHESS (rising 4th-9th grades – Ms. Melinda DeVaughn) – Are you ready to rumble? Chess is a battle between two armies played on a board. This game is over 1300 years old and is one of the most popular in the world. It’s fun and easy to learn, yet it can take a lifetime to master. During this camp, you will be introduced to this intriguing game of strategy and challenge as well as other exciting games that will enhance your strategic thinking skills. You’ll engage in various strategy sessions as well as one-on-one games…with advice as needed! Please bring a chessboard with you each day; inexpensive ones may be purchased at stores that sell board games.
SPORTS CHALLENGE (rising 4th-9th grades – Coach Sarah Graves) – This fun-filled camp will concentrate on a new sport each day! will spend the week playing volleyball, soccer, basketball, four square, kickball, running bases (similar to cricket), jump rope games, and many, many more! Coach Graves can’t wait to help you become a better athlete! Come on out for some fun and a great opportunity to introduce new sports for future interest!
