BASKETBALL BLITZ (rising K–3rd grades – Coach Sarah Graves) - Let Coach Graves teach you basketball skills and fundamentals that will help make you the next basketball superstar!  You will learn basic basketball moves such as dribbling, passing, shooting, and defense.  You’ll play three on three, participate in shooting contests, and play other exciting games using a basketball.  Thursday will feature an extra-exciting component as you’ll get to dunk baskets within an NBA Jam inflatable from Space Walk of the Piedmont Triad!  Come and join the excitement!

BUTTERFLY GARDEN PARTY (rising K-5th grades – Mrs. Denise Jones) – Who doesn’t love butterflies, or the story behind how each of these beautiful creatures starts life as a caterpillar?  Our little caterpillars will begin the week making butterfly and garden crafts, taking time out for girl talk, and engaging in team-work activities designed to work on self-esteem.  By the end of the week, our caterpillars will have transformed into even more beautiful creatures – both inside and out!  Our butterflies will flap their beautiful wings and create colorful jewelry, a flower friend, and butterfly keepsake.  We’ll dance the Butterfly Freeze to the soft music of wind chimes we make.  Searching for butterflies, growing our own butterfly bushes, and decorating for our Butterfly Garden Party will be part of this magical week!

LA FIESTA (rising K-5th grades – Mrs. Lucinda Hernandez) ¿Se habla español?  We do!  Bienvenidos a Saint Pius X Spanish Camp.  Spend the week brushing up on Spanish words, eating foods from various Spanish cultures, making a few Spanish crafts, and learning a little bit about the different Spanish-speaking countries.  We’ll participate in Spanish games such as juego de bolitas (a game using marbles), and we’ll even make and break our own piñata!  Sign up today for a week of divertise (fun)!

LITTLE MISS SPX PAGEANT CAMP (rising 2nd–9th grades – Mrs. Lori Warren & Mrs. Chrissy Verchick) - "Here she comes…Little Miss SPX!"  Do you have brains, beauty, talent, and personality to boot?  Then sign up today for our very own Little Miss SPX Pageant Camp!  Most of the week we will prepare ourselves for the competition by working on our communication skills (for answering questions and preparing mini-speeches), our team work skills (by participating in our group showcases), our talents (for the talent competition), and of course our own personal styles as we walk across the stage.  Congeniality is a must and our winner will need to show good citizenship throughout the week.  Former pageant winners will judge in various categories and crown the new Little Miss SPX 2011!  To add to the excitement, you’ll spend your week with volunteer Kathryn Payne, Miss Thomasville Outstanding Teen 2011 and enjoy a visit from Julie Tesh, owner of Swish, Miss North Carolina International 2009, and the reigning Miss Southeast International 2011.  Mark your calendars! The pageant will be held on Friday, July 22nd at 1:30 pm in the SPX Alumni Auditorium.  THIS CAMP HAS REACHED MAXIMUM CAPACITY!!!

SUPER SCIENCE SLEUTHS (rising 3rd-9th grades – Mrs. Elizabeth Channel) – Are you interested in all the things that science has to offer?  Well, put on your goggles and come explore with me!  We will begin our investigation by learning how volcanoes erupt, and then we’ll create our own mini aquariums, build a solar system, create electrical circuits and much more!  We’ll also enjoy visits from some local scientists!  You do not want to miss out on this week of super science fun!

MASTER GAMER (rising 4th-9th grades – Ms. Melinda DeVaughn) – Calling All Computer and Video Gamers!  Do you like to play games on the computer?  Well, come to this camp to play and learn how to create your own games on the computer!  We will use software to create interactive quiz games, computer baseball, and other computer and video games.  Come join us and create games for you and your friends to enjoy for hours!  Steve Costanzo, manager of The Game Stop at Friendly Shopping Center, will stop by to share information about the latest video games, and he may even offer some prizes and discounts!   VERY LIMITED SPACE AVAILABLE!!!
